Native American Tuition Waiver

The Native American Tuition Waiver promotes enrollment of members of Native American tribes, for the benefit of all students and the academic community pursuant to ND SBHE Policy 820.

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Undergraduate new first-year freshmen with unweighted high school GPA of 2.5 or greater and undergraduate new first term transfer students with a cumulative college GPA of 2.0 or greater in pursuit of a first bachelor’s degree.
2. Enrolled member of a federally recognized U.S. Native American Tribe
3. US citizen or permanent resident
4. Completion of both Minot State General Scholarship application and Native American Tuition Waiver application by the deadline

Requirements:
1. Full time enrollment (12 or more undergraduate credits) for fall and spring semester by the end of the 100% refund period

Award Amounts: 1. Waiver will be divided equally between fall and spring semesters. ND residents: $4000 per year Non-ND residents: $1000 per year 2. Waiver will only apply to tuition charged for Minot State courses. 3. Students eligible for more than one Minot State academic tuition waiver will receive the one of greatest value. 4. Total gift aid (grants and scholarships) including the Native American Waiver may not exceed the estimated Cost of Attendance.

Renewal Criteria:
1. Continuous enrollment in 12 or more credits for fall and spring semesters
2. Receive a passing grade in 24 or more credits for the fall and spring semesters
3. Earn a 2.25 or higher cumulative GPA
